The Government will be launching a three month consultation on a new long term comprehensive National Tobacco Strategy at the end of May 2008. This wide reaching, blue sky thinking consultation will allow the wide range partners involved in this cross cutting issue to input and have their say on a number of key issues.
This is the first of three themed North East consulation events and will explore the different approaches of helping smokers to stop as well as those who can't.
Confirmed speakers include Professor Robert West, Director of Tobacco Studies at the Cancer Research UK Health Behavious Unit and Editor-in-Chief of Addiction, and Deborah Arnott - Director of Action on Smoking and Health (ASH)
This summer course is to take place at the University of Maastricht, Netherlands from 23rd to 27th June 2008. The goal of the course is to provide an overview of important relevant theoretical perspectives, taking a motivational approach to behavior changes as the starting point, and how to translate this into practice.
